Looking for Hints and Tips for Promoting Online Events on Social Media

I thought it would be helpful to have some tips on using Social-media to publicize Story Events. And Google reveals there are literally tons of pages with hints and suggestions for using various platforms.
Obviously there is a lot to learn about using social-media to promote events and developing an effective strategy will enhance drawing people to our events.

The first thing that comes up when you search for information on this are a lot of adverts for various companies offering their products. Most people probably first think of either Paypal or Venmo – which are frequently used for transferring funds. What are the pro's and con's of these? Are there other alternatives.
